The current culture of sleaze, corruption and rot infesting the Repukeliscum party is amazing. However, what's more amazing is the fecklessness and lack of will on the part of the Dems to pin this sucker on them.
We need to do two things:
- Make every democratic candidate sign an pledge about lobbying. The pledge should read "I pledge to not accept money from lobbyists which will work against the interests of the people of my district."
- Get effective lobbying reform in. There should be 2 types of disclosure.
a) AMOUNT OF MONEY FROM LOBBYISTS, in money, re-election funds, in-kind gifts and all other things
b) AMOUNT OF TIME SPENT WITH LOBBYISTS.
No one talks about the second, yet this is the most important issue. When a lobbyist gives a contribution, he is buying access. How much time does the elected official spend with lobbyists?
We need an accounting of the time spent by elected officials. This is a NO-LOSE proposition, since the K-Street project means that most Repukeliscum are spending huge amounts of time with these lobbyist scum, doing their bidding.
Real lobbying reform means tying the AMOUNT of MONEY in to the WORK PRODUCT out.
